When Needed

Here's a reworking of something I've been toying with since the ninth grade, and have finally decided to write down.

Bird by Bird (Continuing the 2000/50 Project)

So an interesting bit of serendipity happened yesterday in my intermediate creative writing (though I'm not sure how serendipitous it was...). My professor likes to read to us from a book called Bird by Bird by  Anne Lamott. She told us the very first day of class that we would love this book, and we do. As of late though, especially since we haven't quite caught up on work shops, we really had not been able to read through Bird by Bird. I pointed this out in a sad, vomit like epiphany on Tuesday, so my professor made it a point to start the class with the book, rather than trying to end it that way.

There should be a reverse indent on my bib, but you can't do that on livejournal, apparently.

Rand of the Norse part 2

So here's the conclusion of the story I started a few days ago, Rand of the Norse. It now totals 7002 words, but I wrote about 3000 (rounded up) today.

Rand of the Norse

Okay, so it's kind of a dumb title, but I'm going to roll with it for now until I can think of a better one. This is part 1 and 2 of the story (I only wrote part two today, so that's the only part that's going to go into today's official count; overall it's 4098 words long so far).

Rand of the Norse )

I should say that this story is inspired by the written works of Neil Gaiman, Rick Riordin and a girl in my Creative Writing Class, who won't be named for privacy reasons, but wrote an awesome poem influence by Greek Mythology.

Writing/Reading Project

I've been thinking about a way to increase my writing output and my reading input, for no other reason that I want to better myself and and my writing. Of course, I am a busy college student, so I am carefully considering these goals, and thinking about how and if they will affect my schedule.

Friend A planted an idea in me. )
