OMAKE 2: Horny Olympians
There's an eagle that has been hanging out in the forests near the duck pond near Mt. Justice. Robin noticed it a few days ago, mostly because he noticed Conner glaring at it. Especially, like now, when Robin took his homework out to the grassy knoll by the duck pond, because it's such a nice day, and apparently Superboy didn't get that he wanted to be alone and came with him. And he wasn't even reading that history book he brought. No, Conner was glaring at the eagle.
"Dude, it's an eagle leave it alone," Robin ordered.
"It's not just an eagle," Conner said.
"Yes, it is. Stop glaring at the eagle, and do your history."
"I've already read, summarized and answered everything in the chapter I need. I came out here to protect you." Dick gives a look, which he hopes tells Conner that he thought that Conner had stopped being all weird when Wonder Woman adopted him.
"You think the eagle is going to attack me."
"I think the eagle has plans for you that you can't comprehend," Conner replies.
"It's an eagle," Robin retorts. Conner smiles down at him, like the way Bruce and Alfred do to tell him, "Silly child, you know not of which you speak."
"Have you ever read the myth of Ganymede?" Conner asks.
"No," Robin replies, wondering how the subject changed so quickly.
"You might want to." Conner says.
Conner, Robin, Batman is here to brief us on a mission, M'gann tells them telepathically. The both head inside and are briefed on the mission, and then do the mission, but once their done and have a few down days, Robin takes Alfred's copy of Classical Mythology and looks up Ganymede. When he finishes reading, he takes the book into the entertainment center and throws it at Conner's head.
"You think the eagle is Zeus, and he wants to abduct-slash-have sex with me?" With a perfectly straight face, Conner replies,
"Yes." Robin storms away muttering.
When he goes outside to study again, the eagle is gone.
M'gann had never been to a petting zoo before, and neither had Kaldur or Conner, so they decide to go one weekend just the three of them as a bonding experience. M'gann did her research and found the best one in the United States, that was a traveling petting zoo and had all kinds of live stock. She pets everything and gives them all a cracker from the packet she bought at the information center. They finally get to some of the bigger live stock like the horses and the cows, and then M'gann sees him.
It's a bull. It's one of the largest things she's ever seen, and he's beautiful, and his fur is very soft. He also seems very happy to be pet.
"M'gann, do you want to go see the llamas?" Conner asks.
"Oh! Yes!" she cries, almost forgetting herself and flying over to Conner. She did run though, waving good-bye to the bull as she went. Conner offered her his hand, which she took, and he looked over his shoulder for a second and...no, that couldn't be right. She swore she saw Conner glare at the bull. And...bulls can't glare, right? She's just being silly, right?
On the way out though, she hears one of the petting zoo workers ask, "Hey, Steve, I thought we only had three bulls here, right?"
There is a lone dolphin frolicing in the bay.
"He does not respond to my calls," Kaldur says.
"Is the dolphin Zeus too?" Robin sneers. Because Superboy is glaring. Again.
"Of course not," Conner replies.
"Conner is right of course," Kaldur says. "A dolphin would more likely be Poseidon, though I have heard he is more monogomous now, due to some of his sons' requests."
Robin slaps a hand over his eyes.
When they go to the fair, there's a goat that will not stop following Wally around. It bahs, and bites at his pants, and no matter where Wally runs away to, the goat follows him. And when they take it to the information desk, the officers just kind of shrug and then start playing Jenga, for some reason.
"Seriously!" Wally cries. "I don't even have any food there!" The goat starts licking his fingers, and Conner grabs the goat by his horns and puts it in the other direction, patting it on the rear.
"He doesn't like that, and doesn't want your solicitations." The goat "bahs" ominously, but trots away.
"...That wasn't Zeus, was it?" Wally asks.
"Don't be silly," Conner says. "A goat is one of Dionysus' animals. By the way, I'm told you should never take a cup or a hike with that guy." There are more slaps across the faces, but Conner just shrugs.
Now there's a swan in the duck pond. Artemis has to admit, the animal thing is a little crazy. There have been other incidents, including more than a few cats following Wally home, and an isolated incident with an owl. There was a woodpecker outside her window for a couple of days (of course, when she mentions it to Conner, the woodpecker disappears). Kaldur, when not being assaulted by animals of the sea (which he assures them, is fairly normal), has been harrased by doves, sparrows and rabbits. M'gann cannot stop the number of animals following her, though crows are the most often.
Now, there's a swan in the duck pond.
Artemis isn't really afraid of the Greek gods, especially since she pays homage to one of them. But, she's a little freaked out by the swan in the duck pond. It appears to be leering at her.
"Conner!" she calls, just to be on the safe side. Conner looks up, sees the swan and starts running, but the swan is up in her face before he can get there. All Artemis can do is block herself from major pecking, until Conner grabs the swan by the neck.
"I don't want to break your neck, but I will, I swear I will!"
And then, there isn't a swan, there's a guy dressed in a kind of toga thing.
"All right, you win!" he declares. "We'll leave your friends alone, I'll even make it a decree!"
"Thank you Lord Zeus," Conner replies.
"But see if you get any extra powers from me, cock block," Zeus retorts. The group has joined them by now and Robin's sputtering a series of "buts." Zeus just turns to him and says, "Kid, didn't you listen to your friend about Ganymede?" Before he turns into an eagle and flies away.
OMAKE 3: Themyscira
Artemis was skeptical when Hippolyta announced that a young man would be coming to Themyscira for a month to train with them. Even if the Princess had seen fit to adopt the boy, he was still a man, would be a man. Trevor was a rare exception to have ever seen the Isle of the Amazons, and even he was something of a leech when given the chance. This boy had probably grown up in man's world instilled with those disgusting idea.
He arrived quietly, so much so that Artemis found out by a group of her sisters flocking through the garden to go and catch sight of him as he came to greet Queen Hippolyta. He remarkable resembled Princess Diana, with his dark hair, and his blue eyes. He was dressed simply in a tunic and a set of trousers. He was polite enough and bowed to Queen Hippolyta, addressing her properly, and in the older Greek tongue.
The queen and princess asked for a private night with this new prince, so Artemis did not get to see more of him until the next day when he was on the practice swords.
He bested a fair few at hand to hand, those who did not practice so much, but had trouble with those more experienced. His sword play was that of a beginner, but a well-practiced, well trained beginner. When he threw the javelin and the discus though, he was quite superb. The training masters sang his praises there, and then began to show him more of their techniques. Artemis did not like this one bit.
He was still a man after all. A young man, but a man. The pilot had been allowed on the island a few hours and because of his arrival, Ares escaped. Men caused trouble by nature. It was just what happened when they were around. Her point was proven when a few days later she stumbled upon some popular musicians.
They were assembling something made of a lot of wood, polishing the wood with a dark varnish, making a lot of wire and strange white and black blocks.
"It's a piano," one of them explained. "We were teaching the young Prince the lyre and he said this was his primary instrument. We were so intrigued and he offered us a book on how to construct one. He will teach us how to play it."
"And the young Prince, he's a musician, as well as a fighter?" she asked. The sister nodded.
"Yes, he's quite multifaceted. He sings really rather well, and he reads like a scholar."
Artemis watches "the young Prince," as the others are now calling him. She watches as he wanders the Themyscira between his lessons, which he excelling it, everything from equestrianism to scholarship to combat, as he just talks with the other Amazons, helping with whatever they are doing or simply talking. The young Prince makes them laugh. He is intelligent and strong and good hearted.
This bothers her for reasons she cannot understand. She should like the young prince. He is not a leech, if anything, his is as close as one can get to an Amazon while still being a man. He's a good boy, and he is the queen's grandson, the princess' foster son. Artemis still does not like the young prince.
She hears Alexa whispering over her shoulder, "Maybe you should try getting to know him." Artemis batted away her sister's ghost, but decided to follow the young prince more closely.
She soon encountered him on the cliff by the water fall with a few of her sisters. They all disrobed and jumped in and the few that remained at the top teased the prince for being shy before they took off their clothes and jumped as well. The young prince shrugged, and removed his trousers (his tunic was already absent), and he jumped into the water, his body curled into make a large splash.
Artemis walked down to the lower end of the pool and a few of her sisters waved and bayed her to join them in over taking the young prince. She's tempted. Too tempted, really, because she disrobed and joined them in the pool. The goal of the water game is to create the biggest wave against your opponent, and the prince was over taking them until Artemis joined them, and then he conceded quickly.
"We must teach you next resilience, young prince," Artemis told him.
"Finally! I would get to have the great Artemis as my teacher!" the prince cried. The others giggled, but Artemis frowned. "I'm sorry, did I say something wrong?" Artemis says nothing, but swims to the edge of the pool, and he follows her. They sat on the edge of the pool and watch the others play. She studied him, and noticed something odd.
She has read little about the male penis; the few paragraphs Alexa showed her once were enough. But Artemis knew that now that he was dry and warm, the prince should be quite erect around the supple, naked female bodies. Especially at his age, he should have no resistance to such a reaction. "Do you want to touch it?" Her reaction must have been extreme, because he begins waving his hands wildly and says, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean anything sexual about it, it's just I've had several requests, because none of the sisters have seen one before and all."
"I was curious as to its flaccid state," she responded. "I have read that men of your age are not usually resistant to what you perceive as sexual situations." The prince regarded her for a moment and then begins laughing. She huffed and stood, because she would not be laughed at, but he grabbed her hand and held her firm.
"Artemis, I'm not laughing at you. I just, I thought everyone on the island had heard by now. I'm not interested in women. I'm a homosexual." She knew the word, but cocked her head.
"You only find men sexually appealing?"
"Yes," the prince replied. Artemis crouched back down, and griped the Prince's penis. He did not respond the way she thought he would, and winced. "Your nails are digging into me."
"Are you not made of steel?" she asked.
"Well, I'm weak against strong magic, and this whole island is magical. And all of the Amazons are as well." She let him go, but frowned again.
"Do you mean to tell me that you have been training with us as a mortal man?"
"Not quite," he replied. "But nearly. I'm still pretty strong, and I still have more stamina than a normal man." Artemis nodded and dressed.
"I will see you on the practice field tomorrow, young prince. Bright and early."
He was there before she arrived, doing exercises to keep himself from being bored. He does everything she commands, the laps, the drills, everything, without complaint. He's a good student. Artemis cannot believe it, but she's falling for his simple charm, just like everyone else.
"Too bad you were not born a female," she said, at the end of the day when they were taking a meal together.
"I agree," the prince replied. "You know, I have a friend called Artemis back home. She's quite skilled with a bow, and I think you would really like her."
"You will have to bring your female companions the next time you visit," Artemis concedes. "No doubt they will be in need of guidance and training in the war arts."
"They probably won't need as much guidance as you think, I'm surrounded by feminists." She blinked, so he explained the word to her, and Artemis beamed at her sisters in the outside world. "But I think I know many people who would benefit from your combat training. My friend Eureka's pretty well trained in other arts. You would probably like her as well, though she's a musician mostly."
"You have a friend called, 'I have found it?'" the prince grins.
"Yeah, her two fathers are quite proud of her." Artemis thought she might have misjudged some of the male population. Perhaps there are more like her prince that she might be able to accept.
"Tell me more about the outside world," she asked.
"There's a lot to tell," he admitted.
"You still have a fortnight with us. Speak." The prince grinned, and obliged her.
"You have been learning much from my grandson," Hippolyta told her one afternoon as they watch him spar.
"Yes," she replied. She bites her lip, and then speaks, "My queen, he told me something that I have given much thought as of late."
"And what might that be?"
"It is something called 'artificial insemination.'" The Queen nodded. "You have heard of it?"
"Diana has explained the chief principles of the process. Some of the others have asked about it as well. Are you thinking of a child, Artemis? You understand, we cannot simply abandon the boys to their fathers as we have done in the past. The world no longer works as such." Artemis nodded.
"I think if we can help the boys to turn out as our young prince has, it would not be such a hopeless venture." Hippolyta smiled, and nodded.
"We will see what can be done about bringing the process here."
It is the Prince's last nights on Themyscira, and he has offered to sing to all of them while he plays the piano. There is great feasting to offer he and Princess Diana safe return to man's world, and they will be making progress to make Themyscira a recognized nation of the world. The prince serenades them with his songs, strange songs, but something that could be beautiful once they adapted to the strangeness. The different guilds of the islands give him gifts, leather armor, glad with metal, weapons like only amazons could forge, lyres, scrolls, jewelry and clothing, fit for a prince. He looks every inch the prince he is when they finished with him.
"Perhaps even the gods shall offer you gifts," Hippolyta said. The Prince laughed and explained the many times he stopped the gods from wooing his friends, and the amazons laughed and reveled and the prince offered tribute to their goddesses, Hera, Artemis, Athena, Hestia and Aphrodite. Because he is a man, he mentions all of the others out of politeness. But the Amazons knew he was one of them now.
Artemis pulled him aside from the feast.
"I wanted to speak to you of a matter of some importance," she said. "I realize you are not quite yet a man. When you are, I would like to request to bear your child." The Prince opened his mouth and closed it several times before he found his words.
"Artemis, you are a loyal friend and teacher, and were it so simple, I would not deny you this, but I am not sure what my future holds. I'm not sure if my lover and future husband might agree to this, or even if I should have children. I am different...If we had a child, he or she might have many difficulties with powers or other problems. They may never be normal. I might not be able to get a human woman pregnant." He kissed her softly, chastely, like a brother kisses his sister and embraced her. "But if all goes right, I would be proud to father your child."
"Then we will insure all goes right, brother." She had never seen the prince smile wider.
Princess Diana and Prince Conner flew from Themyscira laden with many presents for Conner's female friends and the men he could vouch for; young men, he promised, who were like him and respected women for all that they were. Artemis was almost sad to see him go. But, she did not cry as some her sisters did. After all, Conner was an Amazon now, he would always come home.
There's an eagle that has been hanging out in the forests near the duck pond near Mt. Justice. Robin noticed it a few days ago, mostly because he noticed Conner glaring at it.
